Embassy of Ukraine hosted a Ukrainian Christmas Play

December 18, 2009 - The Embassy of Ukraine hosted a Christmas Play “Ukrainian St. Nicholas Day” created and presented by “Power of Spirit” Society.

The Society performing ensemble, organized by Roman and Dana Loun of Philadelphia, consisted of more than thirty-five members – children and amateur self-motivated actors of Ukrainian-American community.

The play represented a successful combination of Ukrainian costumed caroling tradition known as “vertep” with elements of the United States Christmas celebration.

The play was especially scheduled to be timed to the Day of St. Nicholas celebrated in Ukrainian tradition on December 19^th and became a wonderful holiday gift for Ukrainian Embassy staff and children.

“Power of Spirit” Society also gave the Christmas performance on the Washington main holiday stage near the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse.
