At the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York was held a regional meeting of consular affairs

On June 18 – 19, 2008, at the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York, a regional meeting on consular affairs was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Oleksandr Kupchyshyn. In the meeting, Consuls General of Ukraine and senior officials of the embassies of Ukraine in the countries of North and South Americas took part.

During the meeting, a body of issues associated with protection of rights and interests of citizens of Ukraine who stay or reside on the American continent were considered and the ways of improvement of devices for rendering consular-legal assistance to Ukrainian citizens and rise of effectiveness of activity of the consular offices of Ukraine in the region were discussed.

In the framework of the event, a solemn ceremony of presentation of the national decorations of Ukraine was held when the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Oleksandr Kupchyshyn awarded the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Mr. Oleg Shamshur and the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to UN Mr. Yuriy Sergeyev in pursuance of the Decree of the President of Ukraine V.A.Yushchenko for their weighty contribution to development of the Ukrainian diplomacy, many years conscientious work and high professionalism.
