On March 13, 2008, at the NATO Headquarters, the 3rd round of the Ukraine – NATO high level consultations in the framework of the Intensified Dialogue was held.

Ukraine’s delegation was headed by the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Volodymyr Khandogiy. The delegation also consisted of Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mr. Valeriy Ivashchenko, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Mr. Valeriya Lutkovska, Deputy Minister of Ukraine for Emergencies and Protection of the Population from the Consequences of the Chornobyl Catastrophe Mr. Valeriy Tretyakov, First Deputy Head of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee of Ukraine Mr. Anatoliy Murakhovskyi, representatives of other offices, in particular, the staff of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The NATO IS was represented by the delegation consisting of Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Security Cooperation and Partnership Mr. Robert F. Simmons Jr., Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning Mr. Jiřί Šedivý and other officials of the Alliance International Secretariat took part.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of foreign and internal policy of Ukraine which are important in the view of further implementation of the course of our state to Euro-Atlantic integration. In addition, endeavours of the Ukrainian party in informing the population of Ukraine of NATO and cooperation of our state with the Alliance, the course of military reform and reformations of the security and defence sectors, constitutional and legal reforms and fight against corruption were discussed.
