On August 12, 2008, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Gabon Mr. Sergiy Mishustin met with the ambassadors of the Economic Community of Central African States (Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe) as well as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Gabon regarding holding of a conference on modernization and operation of aeronautic engineering of the O.K.Antonov Aeronautical Scientific/Technical Complex.   

The Ambassador of Ukraine informed the present of the desire of Ukraine to restore image of the national aeronautic engineering in the African countries and the interest of the Ukrainian party in contribution to the African countries in its reliable operation and restoration.

In the course of the meeting, a proposal of the Ukrainian party to hold a conference in one of the capitals of the region on support of operation of the AN aircraft fleet in Central Africa was discussed.

For this purpose, the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (currently DRC is presiding in the Economic Community of Central African States) proposed to establish an organization committee and to hold the said event in the framework of ECCAS at the level of the ministers of transport.
