On July 1, 2008, at the National Museum of the Republic of Poland, the Ukrainian exhibition “Ukraine to the World: the Treasures of Ukraine from the Platar Collection” came to the end being held from April 14, 2008, to June 29, 2008.

Except for Ukraine, the exhibition was the first demonstration of the main exhibits from the private collection of Sergiy Taruta and Sergiy Platonov. The exposition embraced about 400 exhibits among which artifacts dated to the period between VI – III millenniums BC were shown: pottery, anthropomorphous and zoomorphous plastic art, models of temples, tools and arms made of copper, stone and bones, artworks of nomads, relics of the Byzantine art etc.

The National Museum of Poland organized similar but much lesser exhibitions in Warsaw twice: “Gold of Ancient Italy” in 1962 and “Scythian Gold” from the Hermitage collection in 1976.

The said exhibition, in the opinion of the Polish scientists and analysts, is the first event which represented comprehensive and profound view on the most important artistic and technical achievements of famous jewelers of ancient times. Due to breadth of the historical view, diversity and wealth of the exhibits, the exhibition gave the Polish spectator a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the ancient history and culture of the Ukrainian people which goes back to remote ages by demonstrating the really bright and rich historical past of today’s Ukraine.

The exhibition became an outstanding event in the cultural life not only of the Polish capital but entire Poland.  The importance of the exhibition and interest of the Polish community in it were evidenced by its populous attendance by residents of Warsaw and other Polish towns and villages as well as numerous expressions of admiration reflected in the guest book of the exhibition “Ukraine to the World: the Treasures of Ukraine from the Platar Collection”.
