On April 7, 2008 Ambassador Oleh Shamshur met with Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

They discussed the results of the Bucharest NATO summit and President Bush’s visit to Ukraine. Ambassador expressed his appreciation of Senator’s steadfast support of Ukraine’s NATO aspirations in general and of the recent Ukraine/MAP Resolution # 439 in particular.

Chuck Hagel welcomed Ukraine’s intention to pursue the policy of becoming the full-fledged NATO member including joining the MAP in December, 2008.

The sides discussed also the issues of energy security in Europe and Ukrainian-Russian relations.
