Comment of the Press service of the MFA of Ukraine in connection with the estimative statements of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine

With a view of estimative statements of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ukraine V.Chernomyrdin in his interview to the newspaper “Vremia novostei” from 02.11.2007 on soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and on Holodomor in 1932 – 1933 in Ukraine the MFA of Ukraine would like to stress that issuance of expert conclusions on the issues of the country`s history and its internal political life does not correspond to the existing diplomatic practice.

We would like to notice that Ukrainian political and scientific elites as well as society are able to qualify its own historical and social events independently and without additional comments based on ideological and stereotypic grounds.

The MFA of Ukraine urges to restrain from expressions and actions, which could negatively affect development of friendly neighborly relations between Ukraine and Russian Federation.
