On September 4, 2008, in Dakar, political consultations were held between the foreign policy offices of Ukraine and Senegal for the first time in the history of the bilateral relations.

The Acting First Deputy Minister Mr. Yuriy Kostenko and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Cheikh Tidiane Gadio discussed the state and prospects of development of the bilateral relations and interaction in the framework of international organizations.

The Ukrainian party demonstrated interest in commercial-economic cooperation intensification. Doubling of commodity turnover in 2007 and its approaching to 100 million US dollars are an evidence of more and more interest of business entities in the Ukrainian – Senegalese cooperation.

Mr. Yuriy Kostenko introduced the Ambassador of Ukraine Mr. Andriy Zayats, who will represent interests of our state in Senegal pluralistically, to the head of the foreign policy office of Senegal.
