On August 7, 2008, the Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine ad interim Mr. V.Khandogiy met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Mr. H.-J. Heimsoeth. 

During the meeting, European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine and bilateral economic cooperation were discussed in particular preparation for holding of the final part of the Europe Football Championship 2012 in Ukraine and interaction of the two countries in the framework of international organizations.

Mr. H.-J. Heimsoeth presented his condolences in connection with the disaster at the western regions of Ukraine and informed that Germany will join to elimination of the disaster consequences in the framework of the EU humanitarian assistance.
