On July 24, 2008, in the course of the visit to the Republic of Italy, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Volodymyr Ogryzko met with the Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy Mr. Stefano Stefani.

Mr. V.Ogryzko congratulated Mr. S.Stefani on his election to the position of Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, showed hope of further interparliamentary cooperation development and emphasized the importance of establishment of the Italy – Ukraine friendship group at the Italian parliament.

Mr. S.Stefani agreed with the initiative of the Ukrainian Minister on establishment of the friendship group in the parliament of Italy and dwelt on the European integration processes and the place of Ukraine in them.

The Italian parliamentarian noted that Italy would support the intention of Ukraine to integrate into EU and to enter into NATO later on.

The parties also discussed economic cooperation development and confirmed mutual interest in cooperation intensification in economic area.
