On September 15, 2008 the opening seminar of the Ukrainian Studies of the University of Helsinki "Ukrainian Perspectives" was held at the Aleksanteri Institute.

On March 12-14, 2008 the delegation of Odessa regional state administration visited Finland. The aim of the visit was to establish cooperation between Odessa region and South-West region of Finland which is considered to be one of the richest in the country.
