Observers from the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF), in association with Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) were up early on Sunday, February 7, 2010 to monitor the beginning of voting in polling stations across the country.

“Based on the Ukrainian President’s Decree as of January 15, 2010 in response to the request of the United Nations the Government of Ukraine on January 27, 2010 made a decision to donate 4.1 million Ukrainian hryvnya (USD 500,000) as a humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Haiti”, - stated Ihor Ostash, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, answering the journalists’ questions on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.

«Obviously the second round will not be easy task. But it is evident as well that it will take place in much more democratic environment that it used to be in 2004», - stated Ihor Ostash, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, in his remarks at Ukraine Elections Mission Canada Pre-Deployment Training.

"The number of publications in national newspapers, political TV shows, quality of political news and even the list of self-sufficient candidates for presidency in Ukraine in 2010 and their open declarations on TV do not give us even a moral right to say that the outcomes of the Orange Revolution are coming to the end", - stated Dr. Ihor Ostash, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, in his public letter to John Stackhouse, Editor-in-Chief of The Globe and Mail, and Stephen Northfield, the newspaper’s Foreign Editor.

On January 18 2010 the Canada Ukraine Foundation (CUF) Election Observation Mission presented its preliminary findings after Sunday’s first round presidential election vote in Ukraine.
