VISA TO UKRAINE

 

The Embassy will be closed on April 16 and 30, 2012 due to the official days off in Ukraine.

 

Due to technical issues ordinary processing time of visa applications is temporary extended up to 30 calendar days,

expressprocessing of visa applications within 3 working days is not currently possible.

 

Attention! On September 10, 2011, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Decree № 567

"On approval of rules for issuing visas for entering Ukraine and transit through its territory" came into force.

IMPORTANT: 

The Embassy of Ukraine does not issue visas for the Ukrainian citizens who hold also Australian passports.

According to the Law of Ukraine on Citizenship of Ukraine 2001:

- If a citizen of Ukraine acquires citizenship (nationality) of another state or states, then in legal relations with Ukraine he/she is recognized as the citizen of Ukraine only. If a foreigner acquires the citizenship of Ukraine, then in legal relations with Ukraine he/she is recognized as the citizen of Ukraine only.

 

TYPES OF VISA TO UKRAINE

 

1) TRANSIT VISA (type B) – can be issued to foreigner and stateless person in case of transit through the territory of Ukraine to a third country, as well as for transit of cargo and passengers by road.

Transit visa is issued as single entry, two entry and multiple entry for the period of time that stated in supporting documents. Duration of transit visa should not exceed one year unless otherwise stipulated by International Agreements of Ukraine.

Duration of every transit through the territory of Ukraine with transit visa should not exceed five days.

The base for the granting transit visa is one of the following documents:

- a document proving the transit nature of the trip (visa to a third country, ticket, etc.);

- a document proving the transit nature of transportation of goods and passengers by road;

- a license for performance of the international transportation activities issued by the competent authorities in a country of residence.

 

2) SHORT-STAY VISA (type C) – can be issued to foreigner and stateless person for an intended stay in the territory of Ukraine of duration of no more than 90 days in any 180 day period from the date of the first entry into the territory of Ukraine. Having serious grounds for extending the period of stay in Ukraine it is necessary to apply to the regional authority or the division of the Immigration Service of Ukraine.

Short-stay visa is issued as single entry, double entry and multiple entry for six months or the period of time that stated in the documents required for it, but not more than five years.

The base for granting short-term visa is one of the following supporting documents that should correspond with the main purpose of the journey:

- an original of standardized invitation from individual or legal entity, issued by the regional authority or by the division of the Immigration Service of Ukraine;

- an invitation from a Ministry, other central governmental agency, State institution, enterprise or organization;

- the documents confirming the family relationships with a citizen of Ukraine,  foreigner or a stateless person who has a temporary/permanent residence permit in Ukraine, including marriage certificate or birth certificate;

- the certificate of the Ukrainian Abroad or the personal written statement along with the results of the interview with the Ukrainian diplomatic or consular staff and evidence of the Ukrainian ethnical descent or Ukrainian origin of a foreign citizen or stateless person. The spouse and children of a person of the Ukrainian origin, if travelling and staying in Ukraine together, have to submit an application and provide documents confirming family relationships;

- a document proving the tourist nature of the trip: tourist voucher, hotel booking along with  registration certificate;

- EURO 2012 football match ticket or receipt for EURO 2012 football match;

- an invitation from a hospital in Ukraine;

- a document confirming that the person is a co-owner of a joint-venture or a representative of a company;

- a written confirmation of the Humanitarian commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine about humanitarian aid or charity activities;

- an invitation issued by a religious organization and certified by the Ministry of culture and tourism of Ukraine for a short stay in Ukraine for religious affairs;

- a written request from a head of foreign media concerning visa issuing to foreign correspondents or representatives of foreign mass media;

- a written request of State authorities of foreign States or international organizations.

 

Visas for the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Mauritius, Seychelles and Turkey, entering Ukraine for tourism, can be issued at the border crossing points as a single entry for the duration of stay up to 15 days.

Short-term visa can be issued without submission of letter of invitation to enter Ukraine for citizens of Australia, Albania, Guatemala, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Singapore, Turkey and Croatia.

 

3) LONG STAY VISA (type D) - can be issued to a foreigner and stateless person to enter Ukraine after the presentation of the documents that give the right to reside or stay in Ukraine for a period exceeding 90 days, especially:

- truly certified copy of work permit issued by the Ukrainian State Employment Authority;

- copy of immigration permit, issued by the Ukrainian State Immigration Authority;

- a written permit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue visas to family members of a person, who was granted refugee status in Ukraine;

- an original of standardized invitation for studying in Ukraine;

- an invitation of public institution, enterprise or organization that is recipient of international technical aid;

- an invitation of a religious organization, certified by the Ministry of culture and tourism of Ukraine for pursuing religious activities;

- an invitation of a branch office, representative or other social (non-governmental) organization;

- an invitation of a representative of foreign entity certified by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine;

- Invitation of a branch or representative office of foreign bank certified by the National Bank of Ukraine;

- a written confirmation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on registration of the passport document belonging to a foreign correspondent or representative of a foreign mass media and members of his/her family;

- a document issued by the governmental body for organization and holding of the European Football Championship 2012.

 Long-stay visa is issued as single entry for 45 days, during this period it is necessary to apply for residence permit.

 

Documents to be submitted upon application for visa

 

The following shall be submitted upon application for visa:

- a valid travel document which is issued within previous 10 years, contains at least two blank pages for visas and is valid at least 3 months after the expiration date of the visa. Copies of those documents are not accepted;

- a filled in and signed application form. In case several persons (minors or a spouse) are covered by the same travel document, individual application forms must be filled in and signed by the persons concerned, in case of minors signed by the parental authority or the legal guardian. Visa Application form should not contain any corrections related especially to the name, passport details of the applicant, dates of proposed entry into/exit from Ukraine, number of entries, date of submission and etc;

- 2 colour photos (size 30x40 mm);

- visa fees receipt;

- supporting documents indicating the purpose of journey;

If you submit a child's passport, it should be accompanied by a joint notarized request of both parents.

Note: The Consular Office has full authority to request more documents than submitted by the applicant.

 

Applicants holding passports issued by the following countries must allow up to 30 days for their visa application to be processed: Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ghana, India, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Democratic Republic of Congo, China, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Somali, Sri-Lanka.

Also, the citizens of the above mentioned countries must additionally submit the following documents:

- Valid Australian or New Zealand Permanent or Temporary Resident Visa, employment authorization etc.

- Original letter of invitation (no fax or e-mail copies are accepted) made through a Ukrainian Visa and Registration Office (for all types of visa).

 

PAYMENT 

The Consular Office accepts payment for visa only with a bank deposit to the account No. 10415582, BSB 062900, at the Commonwealth Bank of  Australia.

Attention! Cash, personal cheques and credit card payments, bank cheques, money orders or checks with mark “DRAFT” are not accepted.

Please be advised that the charge for every kind of visa is not refundable.

VISA PROCESSING TIME

Due to technical issues ordinary processing time of visa applications is presently extended up to 30 calendar days,

expressprocessing of visa applications within 3 working daysis not currently possible.

Visa application cannot be lodged earlier than 3 months before the date of intended visit.   

POSTAGE

Applications should be submitted personally or by authorized party (Power of Attorney) to the Consular Office of the Embassy of Ukraine on Monday-Friday from 9:30 am till 12:30 pm or posted by mail.

For a return service, please provide the Consular Office with a self-addressed prepaid Express Mail or Registered Post envelopes. If providing FedEx, TNT, DHL or other courier envelopes please make sure that they are prepaid and have an account number.

In case Visa Application Form sent by mail signature should be certified by Justice of Peace, Notary Public, Police.

Please be advised that the Consular Office does not accept any other kind of mail and does not bear responsibility for postal service. The Consular Office is not responsible for lost, damaged, misdirected, or late-delivered mail.

Any application received on Saturday, Sunday and official Australian or Ukrainian holidays (January 1 & 7, March 8, May 1-2 & 9, June 6, June 28, August 24) will be processed starting from the next business day.

Please be advised that the Consular office does not provide any information on visa status or post delivery by telephone. 

To better serve you, we kindly ask you not to call the Consular Office regarding your visa processing status as that may interrupt our processing. It is possible to track delivery status with the post office.

ADJUSTMENT TO A VISA

After a visa is received, it should be checked for accuracy and returned to the Consular Office, if necessary, for corrections. The Consular Office shall not be responsible for any discrepancies, which were not brought to its attention. If there is a necessity to adjust a visa, it may be done as long as it is permitted by the supporting document.

 

REGISTRATION IN UKRAINE

From July 1, 2001 no registration in Ukraine is required for foreigners who stay less than 3 months.
